Library and Resource Unit Public Works Department was established as a major information resource center for the Public Works Department staff specialized in engineering, architecture, quantity surveying, technical, management and so on.
At first, known as the Headquarters Library Public Works Department under the administration of the Branch Director of Design and Research. Administration later acquired by the Director of Management, Office of the Director General of Public Works, and converted into Central Library Public Works Department in 1980.
In the reorganization Malaysian Public Works Department in 2003, the Central Library was renamed Library and Resource Unit. While in 2009, the unit was placed under the Corporate Communications Division.
As a specialized library, Library and Resource Unit provides services to all employees of the Public Works Department, Ministry of Works and agencies. The library's collection consists of books, journals, magazines, newspaper articles, standards, plans, contract documents, audio-visual materials, photographs and so on.
Become the premier specialized library in the field of engineering as well as a catalyst for excellence acculturation knowledge through access physical and virtual information to all employees of the Department of Public Works.
